2019 season
World Championships
Our season ended with success at World Championships in Houston, Texas. We seeded third in the Carver division and chose teams teams 7179 Crossfire from Garland, Texas, 3132 Thunder Down Under from Sydney, Australia, and 1939 THE KUHNIGITS from Kansas City, Missouri to join our alliance. After several close matches, including a quarter final won by one point, we emerged as the winner of the Carver division. We then won two of our matches on the Einstein field, and finished third overall. We also broke a world record while at the competition, being the only team to make it onto Einstein for seven consecutive years in FIRST's 28 year history.
At the competition, we took home our first ever Championship Entrepreneurship Award Sponsored by Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield, & Byers for our efforts to promote ongoing partnerships with team sponsors and development of a sustainable business model. |
Aerospace Valley Regional
We celebrated success at our last regional of the year, taking first place alongside teams 3476 Code Orange (Irvine, California) and 2637 Phantom Catz (Palos Verdes Peninsula, California). Thirty-seven teams from Switzerland, Turkey, Nevada, and California attended the event, which took place in Lancaster, California from April 4-6.

At the regional, we advanced through qualification matches undefeated and seeded first. From there we went through elimination matches and finals, earning a blue banner along the way. We also received The Excellence in Engineering Award sponsored by Delphi, which recognizes and celebrates an exceptionally innovative robot. Our team set the high score for points (108) for the Aerospace Valley Regional. Next stop, Championships at Houston!

Sacramento Regional
We continued our season with another success, taking first place at our home regional. The event took place at the ARC Pavilion at UC Davis from March 22-23 with 59 high school teams from Nevada, Idaho, California, Hawaii, and even China competing.
At the regional, we finished qualification matches as the second seeded team. We were selected by the first seeded team, 1323 MadTown Robotics from Madera, to join their alliance with team 3859 Wolfpack Robotics from Elk Grove. We went through elimination matches undefeated, and in the process set the world record of 120 points for the highest unpenalized score during a match.
We were awarded the Industrial Design Award sponsored by General Motors at the competition for our triple buddy climb, which can lift two other robots with us to the third level platform. 1678 student Katie Stachowicz also received the Dean's List award at the regional for outstanding and exemplary leadership skills.

Central valley Regional
We kicked off our 15th competitive season with a blast, landing first place at the Central Valley Regional. The competition took place in Fresno and 49 teams from California, Idaho, and Chinese Taipei attended.

We started the regional in last place, and rapidly advanced to second during Qualification matches. From there we partnered with the captain of the first seeded alliance, Team 1323 MadTown from Madera and Team 7663 Sleuth Robotics from Fresno. We advanced through elimination matches to finals, where we won our first blue banner of the season. While at the competition, we also achieved the first buddy climb in the world during quarter finals. We also won the prestigious Chairman's Award for the second time. The award celebrates teams that best represent a model for other teams to emulate and best embody the mission of FIRST. As a result, we'll be competing for the Chairman's award at the FIRST championship in Houston.
