2020 season

LA North regional

Citrus Circuits was lucky enough to be able to compete at the LA North regional during the 2020 season, where we took first place alongside teams 973 Greybots, 4 Team 4 ELEMENT, and 5893 Robo-Nerds. The competition lasted from February 27 to March 1 and was held at the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks. Forty-two teams from California, Hawaii, Chinese Taipei, and the Netherlands came to compete.

During the first day of competition Citrus Circuits faced many technical issues, which led us to rank 11th by the end of the first day. 1678 returned the next day and played multiple successful matches that turned our ranking around and allowed us to place seventh by the end of qualification matches. From there we joined the first seeded alliance, captained by the Greybots, and eventually won the regional. In addition to winning the finals matches, 1678 received the Gracious Professionalism Award, an award that celebrates a team that works to benefit others at the competition. Citrus Circuits was specifically given the award due to our Citrus Service program, a group of eight students dedicated to only helping other teams gain competitive success at competitions.

st louis regional

Although we never got the chance to compete in the St. Louis Regional, we were honored to win the Chairman's award for the event. The Chairman's award is FIRST's most prestigious honor and celebrates a team that best represents a model for other teams and embodies the goals of FIRST. Citrus Circuits was recognized for its several outreach programs, most specifically its Citrus Service program. While briefly at the regional Citrus Circuits also had the opportunity to interact with several local teams and demonstrate various parts of our robot, as well as answer any questions.
