DYR School Programs

The DYR Schools program is designed to introduce students to the STEM world starting from a young age. Currently, the elementary school programs meet once a week after school and serve kids in grades 4-6. We have programs at Davis School for Independent Study, Cesar Chavez, Willett, Pioneer, Patwin, North Davis, Montgomery, and Waldorf.  At these exciting meetings, students collaborate to build robots that are capable of employing creative solutions to challenges presented in the annual VEX IQ Game.

We've expanded the program to junior high schools in Davis, Harper, and Holmes. Each semester, up to thirty students per class will be exposed to the VEX IQ program during school hours in a classroom environment.

At the end of the school year, all of our school programs are invited to compete at the intra-district competitions. There, teams from various schools compete with and against one another, gaining the opportunity to showcase their robots and interact with students from different schools.

If you’d like to learn more, please contact Kanwar Singh, Lead Coach, at ksingh@djusd.net and Anna Tian, DYR Elementary School Coordinator, at dyrschools@citruscircuits.org.

In the 2026 season, we are piloting a program for students in grades K-2 to participate in Sphero Indi Missions. Designed for younger learners, this program introduces foundational robotics, coding, and problem solving skills through hands-on challenges using the Sphero Indi robot. Students work collaboratively to complete tasks, build confidence in STEM concepts, and develop creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking skills in a fun environment. Each DYR team is run by parent coaches, with support from Citrus Circuits student mentors.
