Keeping a consistent workload on both design and fabrication is always a challenge, and this week all of the hardware teams are full-speed ahead.
CAD Check-In
Beta's CAD was good enough to present to the team, so Brendan (our Hardware Design lead) opened the Wednesday meeting by giving the whole team an overview of the robot and its subsystems so that everyone on every subteam can be familiar with the machine.
(Climber hidden because it's not mated in place yet. It's CADed, I promise)
Fixing Alpha
Alpha's swerve modules had taken a beating (and were assembled wrong), and needed some work. The wood laser cut claw also broke the first time we ran it into a wall, so we made and installed a routed polycarb version. We got parts from WCP on Wednesday, and worked to rebuild the swerve modules
Cameron got auto-balancing code running on Margie while Alpha was getting surgery. It worked the first time™
An Upgrade for Beta
Beta is using swerve modules from last season, but given the larger driving distances this year we needed a speed upgrade. Brendan spent Thursday's meeting pulling out the L2 gearset from our MK4i modules and installing L3 gearsets.
