2018 Robot: Lemon Zest
2018’s robot, named Lemon Zest, was able to pick up a cube the size of a milk crate from varying heights, place it on a scale or switch, and climb a metal rung to ‘beat the boss’. The robot climbed using a metal hook, which fully extended to 80 inches and could lift a second robot using a small metal platform. Lemon Zest seeded first and won the Utah, Sacramento, and Central Valley Regionals, along with winning the Newton subdivision at Houston World Championships. 2017 Robot: pomelo pummeler
Our 2017 STEAMWORKS competition robot, “Pomelo Pummeler” was able to shoot fuel to the high boiler goal, collect and retrieve gears for the “airship,” and use its climber to reach the top of the rope on the airship in the last 30 seconds of a match. Pomelo Pummeler won the Central Valley, Sacramento, and Las Vegas Regional. At the Championship, we became the Newton Sub-Division Champions and Einstein Finalists with our alliance members, Teams 118, 4188, and 5892.
