2018    Offseason

Chezy   Champs

Our first offseason competition this year was Chezy Champs, held in San Jose, CA from September 28-30. The competition was hosted by team 254 The Cheesy Poofs at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, CA and a total of 42 teams participated.

Citrus Circuits seeded first and selected teams 254 The Cheesy Poofs from San Jose CA, 649 M-SET Fish from Saratoga CA, and 2557 SOTAbots from Tacoma WA to complete our alliance.

​Our alliance made it to the finals, but was defeated by the second seeded alliance, which included teams 3310 Black Hawk Robotics from Health TX, 1323 MadTown Robotics from Madera CA, 2659 RoboWarriors from Mission Hills CA, and 1538 The Holy Cows from San Diego CA.

Capital   City   Classic

Our team hosted Capital City Classic this year from October 26-28 at Davis Senior High School. A total of 45 teams attended and competed alongside our own in 2018 FIRST POWER UP.

We were the second seeded team, and chose teams 1425 Error Code Xero from Wilsonville OR, 5458 Digital Minds from Woodland CA, and 4171 BayBots from Seaside CA. Our alliance made it to finals and lost to the first seeded alliance, 254 The Cheesy Poofs from San Jose CA. The winning alliance also included teams 1323 MadTown Robotics from Madera CA, 199 Deep Blue from Belmont CA, and 3859 Wolfpack Robotics from Elk Grove CA.

Capital City Classic also held a series of 23 workshops covering a range of hard and soft skills. Our mentors and students gave most of the presentations and there were an impressive total of 925 attendees. The powerpoints and live streams for the presentations are available here.

Madtown   Throwdown

We wrapped up our offseason competitions at MadTown Throwdown alongside 26 other teams from all over California. The competition was hosted by team 1323 MadTown Robotics from Madera. Our team brought three robots to the event: our competition, practice, and off season robots, and all of them made it to playoffs.

Our competition robot, 1678, made it to the finals and took second place with teams 971 Spartan Robotics from Mountain View, 2073 EagleForce from Elk Grove, and 299 Valkyrie Robotics from Cupertino. The winning alliance included teams 254 The Cheesy Poofs from San Jose, 1323 MadTown Robotics from Madera, 9254 The Cheesy Poofs from San Jose, 9323 MadTown Robotics from Madera.
